Italy

It was my second top 10 of the year and my first top 5, finishing 4th. The golf course was in great condition with the greens in exceptional condition. This showed in the scoring as I finished 21 under and only finishing in 4th place.

US Open

I qualified for the US Open in 2006 played at Wingfoot and after having a good tournament there I was looking forward to playing Torrey Pines. The course was very difficult but fair for a US pen course. I didn’t play my best that week even though I struck the ball well and unfortunately missed the cut. You have to attend a US Open to appreciate the atmosphere and difficulty of this event. Another great experience in 2008.

The Open

I have been trying to qualify for this event for 17 years and was ecstatic when I qualified at Sunningdale in the European qualifier this year. I was pleased as the Open was being played at Birkdale which is not far from my home. The conditions were excruciating and I got the wrong side of the draw but played well and made the cut on the mark. I played solid over the weekend and was pleased with my first performance in the Open. I am already looking forward to qualifying next year as it was an amazing experience.
